Jandal Day!

Today is Jandal Day. Lots of us wore our jandals to school and donated money to our local surf clubs, Sumner and Taylors Mistake. They will use the money to rebuild the Sumner Surf Club and to fix our gear so the lifesavers can get fit to rescue people.

Busy Weekend

  On Friday after school I played indoor soccer. We lost. Two of  our players got winded it was Gus and Daisy . It was a rough game. On Saturday I woke up and started to play on the computer.

Soiree Recounts

We sang our team song. After that I heard a funny sound. I realised that the curtains were closing. I rushed into my position. I leapt onto the chair. The curtains slowly opened. Lights gazed onto me. The crowd was quiet. Then they started to clap so loudly that i couldn't stop smiling. In five seconds I spotted my family.

Last night the whole Year three and four team went to the hall. When I got in the hall Ben W and me set up for the performancwe. Slowly the curtain crept open. i was so nervous. All the birds swooped and dived. When it was over everybody cheered and clapped.

Swimming and soirée

We are starting swimming today. I hope it's warm! It's going to be lots of fun I wonder if we have some free time I think I am doing lengths lengths are so fun.  Other people are doing widths they are a quarter of lengths I can't wait till the afternoon!

Also we are practising our soirée today we are doing a dress rehearsal there are six different acts. 

Room 9 are doing a dance, room 13 are showing some art, room 10 are playing a song on the recorder, room 11 are performing there wearable arts, room 14 is doing a play, music smart are playing the ukulele . By Sheri

On Tuesday the 27 of November the year 3/4 team have there soirée my class room14 have got an exciting play called How the Kiwi Lost Its Wings. The music smart people have got 2 songs on the ukulele.
Room 9 have a dance,  room 10 have recorder,  room 11 have wearable arts, poi and waiata. Room 13 have got comical pictures.

Soiree Dress Rehearsal

Some of us are feeling nervous because we performing in front of the whole school this morning.
Tomorrow night we will be performing in front of our family and friends. We have wonderful costumes that we have worked on for a number of days. The year three and four team hope you love the performances in our soiree.

Keeping Ourselves Safe

Today we had two Police officers visit. Constable Sam and Sergeant Andrea helped us to learn about Secrets, Bribes and Tricks.

Keeping Ourselves Safe

This term we are learning to keep ourselves safe. This week we are trying to keep an egg safe.
Our teacher gave each of us an egg to care for. We have to look after it for four days. Three people have broken their eggs already and Cole's egg has got a brain injury and needs a sticky plaster.
It's really hard looking after something so delicate.

Busy Term Four

We are excited about this term because we are going to be busy doing swimming, athletics, soiree and of course lots of school work. Hopefully the weather will get warmer so we can go for lots of swims.

A Really Early Start

Did you see us on TV? We had an early start this morning so that we could be on the Breakfast show with Tamati. We showed the whole country what to do during an earthquake.

My birthday

On Friday morning I woke up feeling excited because it was my birthday. It took five mins for them to come and finally my family came  and they  and dumped all my presents on my bed. After school I had my party at the beach. We played beach soccer and ate a soccer cake.

A new DOG

I was so excited that we were getting a new dog.It started out like a normal day but every one was excited and jumping about.We got in the car and got my brothers friend then we started talking about the name we had decided on last night it was Barney .Personly  I think it's a really cute name for a brown spoodle anyway back to the story we had to do some jobs like get my sister some new school shoes.When we got there it looked like a mini farm (which it was) .There were 5 kids and puppy's. our  one was the lightest coated dog .

Art and Experiments

Above is some beautiful art that we did with Mrs Berwick last week. The portraits are inspired by Matisse and are abstract with creative and colourful backgrounds.


Next week we will be having a Science Expo at our school. We have learned to make a table to collect information.We are learning to ask good questions. We had to brainstorm some ideas.

The Marvellous Mural

 

What you see here is a colourful mural of Sumner. Previously it was hanging on the old Sumner School Hall. It was put into storage after the earthquake, and now it has been moved to Room 14. We love having the mural outside our classroom.

Stella's Weekend

On Friday I went to my aunts and we went to the beach.We walked on the beach as far as Shag Rock.After the walk we got an ice-cream from Mr Whippy. We slept there on Friday night.Then my Nanna came and looked after us.It was a great weekend. By Stella

On Wednesday morning at about 10 o,clock my family went up to Ohau.It took four hours. When we got there we went in the spa.The next day we went skiing at Mt Dobson they have the most snow out of Round hill,Mt Hutt and Ohau. We had the best time. Awesome Swim At Pioneer

Yesterday I went to pioneer pool.I went in a very big pool it had a lazy river a spa and other stuff.In the lazy river there was a little pool that had bubbles in it. I managed to get in the bubble bit. Then my sister Ella came wishing past so she went Round again. Then I grabbed her arm and pulled her in then we got out and went home. I had so much fun. By Ruby

Skiing

Last Saturday I went skiing at Mt Hutt & nearly every lift was shut. My first run was up the 4man lift and down the to the 3 man lift but we had to get off at halfway and then we had to climb up to the four man again. At the end of the day I didn't,t feel tired at all because the lifts kept stopping. By Theo

In the weekend I went to soccer. My team won all our games. After soccer I went to my friend's house. Tom came for dinner. It was an awesome weekend.

Book Week 2012- Heroes, Honours and History

Mt hut snowbording

In the weekend I went snowboarding with my dad.First we went half way up the mountain and came down really fast and then we did it again but it stopped a lot this time. Then we went on the biggest one and went down the cat track it was amazing. Daddy took some videos and fell over.

The Snow Parlour

Last week on Wednesday morning it was SNOWING!!!
That day we had to go home because it was snowing to much. We went home with our friends mum.We walked to their house it was so so so awesome because they live by the beach. Reading maps

Instructions

We are going to show you how to make a sandwich.
List of ingredients
A sausage roll
Some mint
Tomato sauce
An oven
A knife

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 180c
Put the sausage in oven for 15 mins.
Slice bread roll in half.
Take sausage out of oven and poke the mint into the sausage
Put sausage onto the bread roll.
Slam it onto a plate.
 Squeeze the tomato sauce on top of sausage.
Finally you get to eat it.

Snow Day

Last week on Wednesday it was snowing! Every one was so exited when they got to school. Then they all went to maths.It started to rain then it was finish. It was snowing! School had to close and we started late the next day.

Poi Making

Every Tuesday we go to different classes for our team's Arts interchange. So far we have drawn cartoons and sung waiata. This week we made poi. We used plastic bags and a length of string. Now we can do lots of swinging and singing.

How to Make a Yummy Sandwich

This bread roll is a healthy addition to a lunchbox.

Ingredients...
A large crusty bread roll
Butter
Avocado
Chicken
Cheese
Lettuce
Tomato
Mayonnaise

Method

1. Cut the roll in half.

2 .First spread the butter on the roll.

3. Next spread some mayonnaise onto one side of the roll.

4. After that squash on the avocado.

5. Slice the cheese and tomato and place onto the avocado.

6. Then shred the chicken and place onto the roll.

7. Finally slam the lettuce on top of everything.

8. Last of all put the top of the crusty roll on and squeeze lightly.

If we could have an AWESOME, EXTREME playground imagine a flying fox. Rubber on the bottom of the rope. Faster than speed trains. Strong rope to hold you. When you got to the end you would jump high into the air on a trampoline into a slide. The slide would go round and round. On mothers day all of my family either wrote in the seahorse card that we bought, made a card like Alice's amazing beautiful Butterfly card, made a fridge magnet ,brought her lunch. We all had a farmers breakfast except my brother Joe he had pikelets.

Annah Mac

Jamie from our class won a lyric writing competition and Annah Mac came to our school to sing her song. She was fantastic and the song sounded lovely. The song is called Proud and Strong.

Annah Mac!

On Wednesday Annah Mac (a famous singer) came to our school because our friend Jamie won a competition and Annah Mac sang her song, I thought it was a great song!
Then me and my friend isla and Jamie got a certificate and a top! We got them because we did good in the competition.
Also us three went up on stage and sang one of our favorite song of Annah macs girls in stilletoes!
It was awesome that day and us three and my sister Hannah last week we went to her concert and me and isla told a joke!
Also we got a bag a cd and a hug! Wow!

The Mystery Bus Tour

Last term we found out we were going on a mystery bus tour. We just couldn't wait to go.
Yesterday Mr Cameron gave us a TopSecret letter to open when we got to our destination.
First we went to Spencer Park and we opened the letter.
The letter asked us to design a Year three and four playground. We had to test the playground at Spencer Park! What fun!
After that we also went to Opawa and St Martins Schools to test their playgrounds too.
It was a really tiring and hot day, but it was awesome.
My favourite playground was Spencer Park because I liked the rope tower.
I liked the big flying fox.

Leprosy Speaker

Yesterday a person from the Pacific Leprosy Foundation came in and talked to us about leprosy. They provide money for people who can't go to school and training for the doctors. We found out that it is contaigious and airborne and that it is still around. Leprosy is a rash and makes the senses go numb. People who live in cramped and dirty conditions can get leprosy.

At the moment in Room 14 we are doing research about Quail Island. The children are coming up with their own questions, organising their questions, and are about to start hunting for answers.

On Sunday I went to surf life saving. At the end I went on the irb and when we went over a wave it made a big thump. it was freaky. Then I went and got a sausage and went home and then went to the beach and went for a surf and stood up.

The Present

When the present arrived no body knew what it was but we found out that Cole helped Mrs McKendry.
Every body was hoping that it was a box of chocolates.The next day we opened the present. It was a brain and everybody was shocked.

On Valentinse day room14 our class had a present. Before we opened it the whole of room14 was exscited like me.It was so exsciting it came to the time it turned out to be a sull!!!after I was very disipointed because I thort it was going to be choclate.in the end it tuned out to be our topic.from thomas.

In room 14 we had a present . When it came in mrs McKendry said that we couldn't open it till Valentines Day. On Valentines Day we all sat round the box. it was very exciting and interesting. Then Mrs McKendry came in. I was very impatient to open the present. Finally one by one the kids took off the wrapper. Finally Mrs McKendry opened the box. Inside was a brain. The Present

Well your probably wondering why my title is called the present. Well Miss Mckendry thought that since valentines day is coming up she might give the kids a little suprise. At first we didn't know what it was so we guessed. None of us got it right and it was quite hard. But then miss Mckendry wrote "do not open till valentines day"! Then on valentines day we were so excited and when we we're revealing the present everybody was hoping that it was something special. It was a BRAIN! On Valentines day after lunch room 14 got to open a present! The present was a brain. Before opening the present I felt excited. When I saw what it was I was absolutely horrified. She put a brain in there because we are going to learn about it.
